Help Build the Future of Aztalan State Park

We are almost at our goal!

Dear Friend of Aztalan State Park

Several years ago, the Friends of Aztalan State Park envisioned a comprehensive visitor center encompassing exhibit space, a classroom, essential park offices, bathrooms, and a gift shop, with an estimated cost of $800,000. Regrettably, unforeseen surges in construction costs have rendered this vision temporarily unattainable. Undeterred, we have adapted our strategy to construct the visitor center in phased stages, commencing with a smaller building that includes exhibit space and modern park bathrooms at a revised cost of $440,000.

The good news is that we have successfully secured the majority of the funds required to kickstart the construction of this scaled-down visitor center. However, to bridge the remaining financial gap and make this dream a reality, we need your support in raising an additional $150,000 that would also include $50,000 to help cover the costs of maintenance.

To help with this crucial fundraising effort, our Executive Director, Bob Birmingham, has generously pledged a matching donation during a special campaign during Archaeology Month, between May 1 and May 31. This means that for every dollar you contribute during this period, Bob will match it, dollar for dollar, up to a total of $50,000. Your support during this campaign will have a dual impact – not only will your donation directly contribute to the construction of the visitor center, but it will also be effectively doubled by Bob's matching pledge.

Donate to the May, 2024, Matching Fund

The building fund will help to construct our new visitor center and improve the overall visitor experience, including a permanent Interpretive Center with exhibit space and real restrooms. Check out our becuatiful architectural plans and images below.  

Meanwhile, the endowment fund will provide a stable source of income for the park, supporting ongoing maintenance and operations and future projects and programs. This will ensure that Aztalan State Park can continue to grow and evolve while remaining a vital resource for education, recreation, and conservation.
