Aztalan State Park is located on Highway Q in the Village of Aztalan, near the City of Lake Mills in south-central Wisconsin. It is about 30 miles east of Madison and 50 miles west of Milwaukee.

Things to Do at Aztalan

  • Explore the Aztalan Archeological site including:

    • Reconstructed Platform Mounds

    • Partial Reconstruction of the stockade surround the village site

    • View the surviving mounds on the ridgetop overlooking the village site and Crawfish River

    • Hike the guided trail through the site complete with interpretive signs

    • During periods of low water in the late summer months you may get a chance to see the remains of the prehistoric fish weir in the Crawfish River at the southern portion of the site.

  • Cross County ski and snowshoe the Park in the winter time

  • Enjoy a lunch in the picnic areas

  • Canoe or Kayak the Crawfish River and visit the mounds across the river.
