  • May 18, 2024 1:00 - 2:30 pm.
    Annual Membership Meeting.

    Meet at the park shelter to discuss key updates and future endeavors. A business meeting will be followed by a presentation by Bill Bursaw of the Department of Natural Resources on continuing improvements at the park.

  • May 26, 2024 2:00 - 3:30 pm.
    Kickoff Spring Tour.

    Meet at the park entrance for an informative and enjoyable walking tour of the ancient site as we officially open the spring season at Aztalan State Park. Focus is on new archaeological research and discoveries.

  • June 20, 2024 7:30 - 9:00 pm.
    Summer Solstice Celebration.

    Meet at the park shelter and join us for a special event to welcome the summer solstice and revel in nature’s beauty as the sun sets over the Native American mounds at Aztalan State Park. Following a discussion of the marking of solar events by Native Americans, the summer solstice sunset will be observed from the large platform mound at 8:35 (weather permitting). Snacks and beverages will be provided.

  • July 21, 2024.
    Aztalan Day (time to be announced).

    In conjunction with the Lake Mills - Aztalan Historical Society. Visit the Friends’ information table at the museum grounds. Celebrate the rich history and significance of the Aztalan/Lake Mills community, and Aztalan State Park. Also, there will be a walking tour of the ancient site from 2:00 till 3:30 pm.

  • August 10, 2024 11:00 am - 2:00 pm.
    Annual Picnic with special presentation on the foods of Ancient Aztalan.

    Meet at the park shelter. The Friends of Aztalan will provide hot dogs, hamburgers, sweet corn, and a taste of traditional Native foods, but attendees are invited to bring a dish to pass.

  • Sept 2024 (date and time to be announced). Native American Day.
    Meet at the park shelter. and join us in honoring and celebrating Native American culture with a special event.

The events and tours are free, but visitors will have to pay a State Park admission fee or have an annual State Park admission sticker for their vehicle.
